1. Acceptance and Eligibility
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Otonna (“we”, “us”) governing your access to and use of the Otonna website and application (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and able to form a binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
2. The Service
Otonna is an educational tool that helps you rewrite simple English sentences into more advanced academic expressions through an adaptive five-level method with AI-generated feedback. It is provided for language-practice purposes only. We may modify, add, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and may impose limits on, or restrict access to, certain features.
3. Accounts and Security
You sign in through a third-party authentication provider (Google). You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may refuse, suspend, or reclaim an account at our discretion, including where required by law or to protect the Service.
4. Credits, Subscriptions, and Billing
AI practice consumes “sentence credits.” New accounts receive a limited number of free credits. A Basic subscription grants a daily quota that refreshes each day and does not accumulate. One-time Credit Packs add credits that are valid for a limited period (currently 12 months from purchase). Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are consumed in the order defined in the Service. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled; you may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Prices and included quotas may change on a going-forward basis, and current pricing is shown in the Service before you purchase.
5. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary, subscriptions are not refunded for partial periods, and Credit Packs are non-refundable once any credit from the pack has been used.
6. AI-Generated Content and Educational Purpose
Evaluations, feedback, generated sentences, and extracted patterns are produced by automated language models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. They are learning aids only, are not professional, academic, or certification advice, and do not guarantee any examination result or writing outcome. You are responsible for how you use the output.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) submit prompt-injection, malware, or content intended to manipulate or damage the Service; (b) use the Service for unlawful, infringing, or abusive purposes; (c) attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit accounting, or security controls; (d) scrape, reverse engineer, resell, or build a competing product from the Service; or (e) access the Service by automated means except as we expressly permit. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
8. Intellectual Property and Your Content
The Service, including its software, design, text, and training method, is owned by us and protected by law. You retain ownership of the text you submit. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, and transmit your submissions to operate and improve the Service, including sending them to our AI processing provider to generate feedback. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you enter.
9. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service and permanently delete your account at any time from the Account page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or CAD $50, and we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law and Contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province or territory in which the operator of Otonna is resident, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your place of residence. Translations of this document are provided for convenience only. In case of any discrepancy or inconsistency between language versions, the English version prevails.
